Here’s a classic Tuna Melt recipe—crispy, cheesy, and satisfying!
Ingredients:
2 (5 oz) cans tuna in water, drained
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion
1 tablespoon chopped celery (optional for crunch)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices of bread (sourdough, rye, or sandwich bread work well)
4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon butter (for toasting)
Instructions:
Make the tuna salad:
In a bowl, mix drained tuna, mayo, mustard, onion, celery (if using), salt, and pepper until well combined.
Assemble the melts:
Lay out the bread slices. Spread tuna salad evenly on two of them. Top each with a slice of cheese, then place the remaining bread on top to make sandwiches.
Cook the sandwiches:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter. Once melted, add sandwiches and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing slightly, until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
Serve hot:
Slice in half and enjoy with chips, pickles, or a simple green salad.
